Widex

The hearing aid most trusted by audiophiles and musicians — and the only platform with 0.5ms ZeroDelay processing.

Sound That Sounds Like Sound

Widex Hearing Aids Line Up

Widex was founded in Denmark in 1956 and has spent nearly seven decades pursuing a single engineering goal: making hearing aids sound less like hearing aids. In 2019 Widex became part of WS Audiology — the world's largest hearing aid manufacturer group — but its engineering identity has remained distinct. Where most manufacturers compete on AI processing depth, noise reduction strength, and feature count, Widex competes on something harder to engineer and more difficult to measure: the naturalness of the listening experience itself.

At Haynie Audiology, we fit the current Widex lineup and verify every device with real ear measurement so each patient experiences what Widex's platform is actually capable of delivering.

The ZeroDelay Difference

Every hearing aid processes sound. The time it takes to process that sound — the delay between when a sound enters the microphone and when the amplified version arrives at the eardrum — is the single most underappreciated factor in whether a hearing aid sounds natural or artificial.

Most hearing aids run at a processing delay of five to ten milliseconds. That may sound imperceptibly fast — but it is not. At five to ten milliseconds, the processed sound arriving from the hearing aid and the natural sound entering through the ear's venting mix at the eardrum at different times. The result is a subtle distortion — a slightly hollow, echoey, or artificial quality — that many experienced hearing aid wearers describe as the characteristic "hearing aid sound." Patients who have tried multiple brands and found them all somewhat artificial are often describing this exact effect without knowing its cause.

Widex's ZeroDelay technology processes sound in 0.5 milliseconds — the fastest processing delay in the hearing aid industry, and fast enough that processed and natural sound merge at the eardrum without the distortion that slower processing creates. The result is PureSound — a listening experience that patients, audiologists, and independent reviewers consistently describe as the most natural and transparent available. It is the reason Widex has been the preferred platform of musicians and audiophiles for more than a decade, and the reason patients who have struggled with the artificial quality of other hearing aids frequently find Widex to be the difference that makes wearing hearing aids sustainable.

The W1 Chip and the Allure Platform

In March 2025 Widex launched the Allure — its most significant new platform in five years, built on the new W1 chip with four times the processing speed of the previous generation. Precision Hearing Technology on the W1 chip brings five enhanced features working simultaneously: Speech Enhancer Pro with 52-band spectral analysis for improved noise reduction, an Enhanced Sound Classifier for faster and more accurate automatic environment detection, an Adaptive Dynamic Feedback Controller, the Allure Dedicated Streaming Compressor for high-quality Bluetooth audio, and ZeroDelay PureSound at its most refined.

The Allure platform is available in RIC, BTE, and ITE form factors — including Widex's first ever rechargeable in-the-ear custom device — covering hearing losses from mild through profound depending on the style selected. Bluetooth LE Audio provides direct streaming from iOS and Android devices. Auracast hardware is present and ready for activation via firmware update. The Widex Allure App provides volume control, program adjustments, AI-assisted personalization through SoundSense Learn — which learns from real-world listening preferences and provides crowd-sourced sound setting suggestions from other wearers in similar environments.

The Widex Lineup

Widex offers a focused, clear lineup of devices. We fit and verify each one at our Freehold office:

  • Widex Allure — The current Widex flagship, launched March 2025 on the W1 chip. PureSound ZeroDelay at its most refined, Speech Enhancer Pro, Bluetooth LE Audio, rechargeable in RIC, BTE, and ITE form factors. Four technology tiers — 440, 330, 220, and 110. Available now.

  • Widex Allure AI — Widex's newest platform announced May 2026, adding a dedicated AI DNN co-processor to the Allure's W1 chip for on-demand Clarity Boost in noise. Widex's approach is deliberate: natural PureSound by default, AI activated only when the wearer chooses — preserving the transparency that defines the Widex experience while adding targeted AI support for the most difficult listening moments. Currently available in select European markets. US launch: November 1, 2026.

  • Widex SmartRIC — A slim, L-shaped RIC with a different microphone positioning approach than the standard Allure, designed for patients who want a more design-forward form factor. Runs on the MOMENT platform — and includes Widex's Zen tinnitus therapy, which makes it the right Widex recommendation for patients whose tinnitus management is a priority alongside hearing.

Each of these is explained in more detail on its own page — and part of our job is helping you understand which platform and form factor genuinely matches your hearing loss, your lifestyle, and your listening priorities.

Why the fitting matters as much as the device

Widex's PureSound experience is produced by ZeroDelay processing — but that processing is only as accurate as the amplification it is built on. A Widex Allure programmed to manufacturer defaults, without real ear measurement verification, will not deliver what the platform is capable of because the amplification has not been confirmed to match the patient's specific hearing loss and ear canal acoustics.

At Haynie Audiology, every Widex fitting follows a verified best-practices protocol built around Real Ear Measurement — a probe microphone placed at the eardrum confirms the device is delivering precisely the right amplification for your specific ear. ZeroDelay produces natural sound because there is no processing distortion. Real ear measurement ensures the amplification underneath that natural sound is also precisely right for you.

Experience Widex in Freehold, NJ

Widex is an outstanding choice for patients who want the most natural, transparent listening experience available — particularly those who have found other hearing aids sound processed, artificial, or fatiguing, and for patients who are musicians or audiophiles for whom sound quality is a defining priority. It is one of several excellent options we offer, and the right choice depends on your hearing loss, your listening priorities, and an honest conversation at the evaluation.
