Phonak Audéo EON Sphere — Freehold, NJ

Phonak's Most Advanced Speech-in-Noise Platform — Now Smaller Than Ever

Clarity you hear. Connection you feel.

Phonak EON Sphere Hearing Aids

When Phonak launched the Audéo Infinio Sphere in 2024, it became the most independently verified hearing aid for speech in noise on the market — rated number one by HearAdvisor, the independent audiological testing laboratory, with a score that placed it at the top of its category. The engineering challenge that followed was not improving the performance. It was keeping it while making the device significantly smaller.

The Phonak Audéo EON Sphere, launched on August 24, 2026, answers that challenge. Built on a new HYPERSONIC AI chip that Phonak reports is 25% more efficient than its predecessor, the EON Sphere delivers the same flagship Spheric Speech Clarity processing in a body that is 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous Sphere generation — without reducing the battery life that made the Infinio Sphere so practical for all-day wear.

The HYPERSONIC Chip — What Changed and Why It Matters

The Infinio Ultra Sphere ran on two chips: the ERA chip handling connectivity, and the DEEPSONIC chip running the dedicated AI speech separation processing behind Spheric Speech Clarity. The EON Sphere keeps this two-chip architecture and replaces DEEPSONIC with HYPERSONIC — a new processor that Phonak reports delivers a 25% efficiency gain over DEEPSONIC. Combined with a retrained deep neural network, the total efficiency improvement over the previous Sphere generation is reported at 37%.

That 37% efficiency gain is what made the size reduction possible. The same processing capability now runs in substantially less physical space. For patients who found the Infinio Ultra Sphere slightly larger than they preferred, or for patients who were weighing the Sphere against smaller devices from other manufacturers, the EON Sphere removes a practical barrier that previously existed.

The ERA chip, shared across the full Eon family, continues to handle Bluetooth, Auracast, and RogerDirect connectivity — leaving the HYPERSONIC chip's full capacity dedicated to the speech separation processing that defines the Sphere platform.

Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 — Third-Generation AI Speech Separation

Spheric Speech Clarity is the feature that distinguishes the Sphere tier from every other Phonak device — and from most of the hearing aid market. It is not a noise reduction algorithm in the conventional sense. It is a dedicated deep neural network running on a separate AI chip, with a single purpose: separating the voice you want to hear from the competing voices and noise around you in real time.

The EON Sphere introduces Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 — the third generation of this technology. Phonak reports an SNR benefit of up to 10 dB in loud noise, and its own testing found that EON Sphere outperformed four other manufacturers' hearing aids for speech clarity in loud noise environments. Phonak also reports that wearers are twice as likely to understand every word from any direction compared to the same hearing aids without the Sphere feature active.

WindBlock 2.0 — The Outdoor Performance Upgrade

The Eon Sphere introduces WindBlock 2.0, a meaningful upgrade for patients who spend significant time outdoors — walking, cycling, gardening, attending outdoor events, or spending time near the water. Phonak reports that WindBlock 2.0 automatically reduces wind noise by up to 50 dB and can improve the signal-to-noise ratio in wind by up to 30 dB compared to previous generation wind noise management. For patients whose primary active environment is outdoors, this is the most significant environmental performance improvement in the EON Sphere over the Infinio Ultra Sphere.

Connectivity — Universal Bluetooth, Auracast, and RogerDirect

The EON Sphere maintains Phonak's universal Bluetooth connectivity advantage — direct streaming from virtually any Bluetooth-enabled device, whether iPhone or Android, without requiring a specific compatibility tier or an intermediary streaming device. Phone calls, music, podcasts, and television audio stream directly to both ears from any modern smartphone.

Auracast broadcast audio is fully supported and working from day one on the EON Sphere — allowing wearers to receive direct audio from compatible public venues including theaters, houses of worship, airports, and conference facilities without background noise interference.

RogerDirect is built into the EON Sphere, providing native compatibility with Phonak's Roger remote microphone system — the most advanced assistive listening technology available for difficult listening environments — without requiring any additional adapters or accessories.

One important note: The EON Sphere does not include a telecoil. Patients who regularly use hearing loop systems in their house of worship, theater, or other installed looped venues should discuss this with Dr. Haynie at the fitting consultation before selecting the EON Sphere as their device.

Three Technology Levels — More Choice Than the Previous Generation

The EON Sphere is available in three technology levels — E90, E70, and E50 — compared to only two levels on the Infinio Ultra Sphere platform. This expansion makes the Sphere's dedicated speech separation AI accessible at a broader range of price points.

E90 — The flagship tier. Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 runs at its maximum processing strength (level 7), delivering the strongest speech separation performance available on the platform. Best for patients who regularly navigate the most demanding listening environments — large family gatherings, noisy restaurants, conference rooms, crowded events.

E70 — The advanced tier. Spheric Speech Clarity runs at up to level 5. Automatic access to the Sphere loud-noise program is maintained. For patients who encounter difficult listening frequently but who do not require the absolute maximum processing strength of the E90 tier.

E50 — The standard tier. Spheric Speech Clarity runs at up to level 4, with more manual control available. The most accessible price point within the Sphere platform, appropriate for patients whose primary difficult listening environments are moderately rather than severely demanding.

All three tiers share the same HYPERSONIC chip, AutoSense OS AI 8.0, WindBlock 2.0, universal Bluetooth, Auracast, and RogerDirect connectivity. The differences are in the depth and strength of the Sphere speech processing — not in the underlying connectivity or automatic processing platform.

Colors and Style

The EON Sphere is available in eight colors designed to blend discreetly with a wide range of hair colors and skin tones: Sandalwood, Velvet Black, Graphite Gray, Silver Gray, Champagne, Sienna Red, Chestnut, and Sand Beige.

Two charging solutions are available alongside the EON Sphere: the Charger RIC E, a desktop charging solution for overnight and home use, and the ChargerGo RIC I E, a portable charger with an integrated battery that carries approximately three additional full charges for travel.

Is the Phonak EON Sphere Right for You?

The EON Sphere is most suited for adults with mild to profound hearing loss whose primary challenge is understanding speech in noisy environments — restaurants, meetings, group conversations, social events, and crowded situations where competing voices are present. Patients who want Phonak's most current flagship in the smallest available Sphere form factor, with universal Bluetooth, Auracast from day one, and RogerDirect compatibility will find the EON Sphere the most comprehensive current Phonak option.

The EON Sphere is not the right choice for patients who require a telecoil — there is no telecoil on any EON model. Patients who want independent laboratory verification before committing may prefer to wait for HearAdvisor results, expected in the coming months. Patients whose primary challenge is not speech in noise — and who do not need the dedicated Sphere AI — may find the Audéo EON R a more cost-effective choice on the same platform. And patients who are satisfied with their Audéo Infinio Ultra Sphere do not need to upgrade immediately — the Infinio platform remains fully supported and independently top-rated.

The Fitting — Real Ear Measurement and What to Expect

At Haynie Audiology, every Phonak EON Sphere fitting follows the same best-practices protocol applied to every hearing aid we fit:

  1. Comprehensive hearing evaluation — complete audiogram confirming the EON Sphere's fitting range is appropriate for your hearing loss

  2. Technology level selection — matching E90, E70, or E50 to your hearing profile, lifestyle, and the listening environments you encounter most

  3. Real ear measurement verification — a probe microphone placed at the eardrum confirms the EON Sphere is delivering the prescribed amplification for your specific ear canal anatomy. The Infinio Ultra Sphere's 4.9 HearAdvisor score was achieved in an audiologist-optimized fitting with verification — this is the standard we apply to every fitting

  4. Spheric Speech Clarity and AutoSense configuration — ensuring the Sphere processing is calibrated correctly for your degree and pattern of hearing loss

  5. Connectivity setup — Auracast, RogerDirect, Bluetooth pairing, and myPhonak app orientation
